Bob Barta, prefers to be called “Blooming Bobville”, the practical poet.
A poem, “Cares” by Edgar Guest inspired Bob Barta to become an award winning public school teacher in Seattle, Washington.
Bob prefers to be known as “Blooming Bobville” the practical poet in the spirit that everyone has the power to choose to refresh their quality of life and be “blooming” with new possibilities, day by day!
Here’s an example of how practical poetry can be vital to your quality of life and professional integrity.
Daily repetition of Guest’s poem, “Cares” helped inspire Bob to survive and thrive difficult “inner-city” classroom challenges over his 35 year career as a teacher.
During retirement he has worked on creating and developing the Blooming-Bobville™ practical poetry style based on the formula of the classical Villanelle. A Villanelle style poem is constructed on six stanzas. The content of the poem is formed with criterion associated with educational taxonomies of learning. That is, the poem starts with a statement of truth or knowledge and is sensibly developed in stanzas 2,3,4 and 5, concluding with a sixth stanza that suggests action for achievement.
The Blooming-Bobville™ practical poetry style is designed specifically for those who want to positively deal with their quality of life issues. This hybrid poetry style assists individuals in self-help learning, quality of life maintenance and quality of life improvement.
Bob’s teaching awards were the John Maxey award in 1984 at Ingraham High School in Seattle, Washington. He was the first recipient of this award and also was awarded it in 1990. The John Maxey award winner is voted on annually by the graduating class. The basic criterion for the award is founded on the principles of caring and competent teaching at Ingraham High School that has had a significant influence on their lives.
In addition, in 1984, Bob was a recipient of the King 5 TVs News “Top Teacher” in Western Washington, an award based on criteria set by students, parents, faculty and school administrators.
The intent of the poems are designed to help you meet the challenges of change that affect every human being during their lifetime. It is in that spirit that the practical Bloooming-Bobville poems are presented.
Best of luck on your life’s journey, day by day.
Sincerely yours, Blooming Bobville
Practical poetry for those who want to respond positively to the challenges of change going on in their lives, day by day.
