“Preventing Disabling and Self-Destructive Discouragement!”
Premise I: How you habitually respond to disappointment shapes, carves and molds the quality of your life!
Premise II: The author doubts that no one goes who has never or occasionally responded negatively to a disappointment. The contention here is that it is habitual, day after day, negative response to disappointment that leads to “disabling self-destructive discouragement.” Disabling discouragement may be manifested in self-doubt, fear, impatience, lack of appreciation, lack of thanklessness, ungratefulness, selfishness. In addition, this includes risky thinking and risky behaviors such as, self-pity, alcoholism, and other habitual self-defeating behaviors. Habitual means, thoughtless, involuntary response to disappointing experiences. Once or twice or rarely is not considered habitual.
•For this poem, patience, persistence and perseverance imply positive response!
•The intent of this practical poetry project: To explore the importance of being careful as to how you habitually respond to disappointments!
“Preventing Disappointment From Becoming Disabling and Self-Destructive Discouragement!”
Occasionally everyone has disappointments,
No one can absolutely avoid making mistakes or experiencing unforeseen misfortunes!
Slow down, make a plan and fix with patience, persistence and perseverance!
No one goes,
Who never has experienced disappointments or mistakes!
Slow down, make a plan and fix with patience, persistence and perseverance!
Whenever you feel disappointed,
Analyze the cause or causes, then…
Slow down, make a plan and fix with patience, persistence and perseverance!
It is foolish to expect absolute perfection because that leads to overwhelming disappointments,
Understand that perfection is a dream and responding positively prevents discouragement!
Slow down, make a plan and fix with patience, persistence and perseverance!
Disappointment is an automatic response to accidents and misfortunes and bad decisions.
Habitually responding negatively leads to self-pity that can easily lead to attitudes and habits of self-destructive discouragement!
Slow down, make a plan and fix with patience, persistence and perseverance!
Conclusion:
Discouragement results from habitual negative response to disappointments and…
That leads to negative attitudes and habits that etch away your quality of life and …
Eventually involuntary habitual response to discouragement can lead to self-destruction!
Slow down, make a plan and fix with patience, persistence and perseverance!

Identifying The Source or Sources That Cause Involuntary Habitual Negative Response:
• Explore in which of the following life experience categories you habitually and negatively respond? That is where your greatest weaknesses are that need “fixing.”
A. Biological: Concerning your health and diet. Positive response may call for a change of what you eat and in the quantity you eat?
#1. Assignment for your health: What one thing can you do each day to preserve and make you health better: Regarding… Exercise, Diet, Resting, Enough Sleep, etc.
B. Economic: Concerning your joy of your career, occupation or aspects concerning your abilities for training or educational interests and performances. Positive response may call for a change in occupation or career and that may be the best positive response. Many people do that! Life is a process of always “remaking” oneself to maintain joy of living in the service of others whether as a tradesman, office worker or other profession.
#2. Assignment for how you can serve: How can you improve the service that you offer others. Or, how might you update your services with more education and training?
C. Social: Concerning the need for companionship and therefore being suited to living in communities: We are social beings as well as individuals. Isolation and loneliness is characterized by a depressing feeling. Check out “loneliness” in a Thesaurus for further descriptive words. Volunteering is a traditional and effective way to respond positively to loneliness.
#3. Assignment for how you can improve your worth to your community? What do you do or what else can you do to improve or maintain the livability of the community in which you life? Example: Property care, keep you street clean of trash, do volunteer work, apply for a community service office; school board member, community improvement projects…etc.
D. Spiritual: Spiritual relates to what affects the human spirit or soul as opposed to material or physical things. If your are not experiencing contentment, happiness or joy, look up “spiritual uplifting” on the Internet or at a library.
#4. Assignment; Practice the the arts of appreciation, gratitude, thankfulness for the good things that you have: Health, a job, family’s fun hobby, read uplifting poetry like that posted on this blog. Any other activities for your emotional, mental and spiritual health…
Hint: Make a list to carry in your pocket: 2. One thing for you health each day. 2. One thing for you wealth, that is, service to others. 3. One thing for your family and community 4. One thing for your emotional, mental and spiritual wellbeing: Examples: Poetry reading, prayer, positive response attitudes, behaviors and habits, etc.
*Find resources on the internet.
*One of the above four categories may be the source and cause of habitual negative response! By isolating the cause you can then develop a plan to effectively develop or reestablish contentment, happiness and joy in your life.
*You need to create a positive response plan, establish a commitment to fix the habit of negatively responding to disappointment. Then proceed with patience, persistence and perseverance to achieve and maintain positive response attitudes and behaviors for your wellbeing and sustaining your wellness!
*An example of positive response: I created this poetry format that I have named, “Blooming Bobville practical poetry,” as a way to help rebuild my teaching career after retiring from 35 years of educational service in the classroom. We all need a purpose to maintain our quality of life. My positive response to retirement is to help others improve and sustain their own quality of life, day by day. I believe that when your quality of life is good, it makes the quality of life good for everyone else in the world.
*Inspirational Proverbs: It is not so much the speed as it is the perseverance that achieves success. *Enjoy what you can do now while accumulating knowledge and skills necessary to achieve a high goal. *There’s an old African proverb that states, “Even a slow walker shall eventually arrive at his/her destination”! A plan, patience, persistence and perseverance gives you courage and purpose in achieving a habitual positive response to daunting disappointments!
*Best of luck as you work at responding positively to the disappointments that you may be experiencing during your lifetime. Hopefully, someday, I shall see you and others creating “positive-response-practical-poetry” to help others deal positively with disappointment! Good luck and sincerely yours, Blooming Bobville the practical poet.
